URGENT ANNOUNCEMENT

The shelter is extremely overcrowded because people are not keeping their commitment to their pets. They are also not spaying and neutering their pets which contributes to the overpopulation problem. There are many, many wonderful cats/kittens, dogs/puppies that need LOVING, LIFETIME homes. Please come to the shelter and save a life. You will have a wonderful friend FUREVER. Save a life - Adopt a Shelter Pet

ATTENTION!!!!

We are in kitten and puppy season. Although many people think it is a wonderful time, the shelters become overrun with kittens and puppies. Unfortunately, there are not enough homes for them. Please spay and neuter your pets. Many lives can be saved by spaying and neutering all pets. It not only helps with the population it is also healthier for your pet. Every pet that leaves our Adoption Center is spayed/neutered so that we can reduce the number of homeless animals. Please do your part and "Spay & Neuter". Save lives - Sterilize - Don't Euthanize

We always need foster parents for kittens and puppies that are too small for adoption. If you are interested in being a foster parent, please call South Animal Care & Adoption Center at 253-6608.

Who We Are

The South Animal Care and Adoption Center is located in Melbourne, FL. We are one of the centers operated by Brevard County Animal Services and Enforcement. We are committed to building lifelong bonds between people and animals through education, community outreach programs and the prevention of cruelty. We dedicate ourselves to providing prompt, professional services to the citizens and animals of our community. One of our primary goals is to protect the public from stray or dangerous animals. We are devoted to the prevention of cruelty to animals by operating an animal care center for homeless, abandoned and unwanted animals; by operating an adoption center for healthy animals; by investigating cruelty and abuse cases; and by educating the public in animal owner responsibility. Brevard County Animal Services envisions a time when our community celebrates the human-animal bond; embraces the mutual benefits therein; and treats all living beings with care, compassion and respect.

Adopting a friend

Adoption fee: Dogs - $79.00
Adoption fee: Cats - $59.00

These fees help to offset a portion of the costs we incur for spaying or neutering, vet examination, rabies vaccination, first shots, deworming, and county license tag. Dogs are also confirmed to be heartworm negative 6 months and up and cats negative for feline leukemia and feline aids 4 months & up. Kittens 4 months and under are tested for feline leukemia only.

DONATIONS NEEDED!

Monetary donations are always needed. Your entire contribution is used specifically for meeting the needs of animals that would otherwise require humane euthanasia. Please specify where you would like your donation to go to ensure that it is used for a specific cause. We have a Heartworm fund that has saved many, many lives. We are always in need of food for both cats and dogs and kittens and puppies. Also, donations of towels, wash rags, plastic cat balls or ping pong balls, hard rubber dog toys, dog houses, tethers to give to less fortunate pet owners, old but usable pet carriers, small animal and bird supplies and cages. YOUR GENEROSITY IS DEEPLY APPRECIATED!!

Volunteers Needed

The animals always appreciate more volunteers to assist with their care. There are a wide variety of volunteer opportunities available for pet lovers.
