Success Story of the Month!
Bonnie was a three-legged Black Velvet Chinchilla that came to us through an owner who needed to surrender some of her chins, including Bonnie, who had come from another rescue, Bonnie came in grouchy, unhappy and didn't even want to eat raisins. After trying to socialize her, she still wasn't coming around, but we took a chance and lister her on petfinder. Within hours, a couple had emailed me that saw her picture and had fallen in love - they wanted to come and see her, but I warned them she was grouchy. They were not deterred. Within minutes of her new "dad" meeting her, Bonnie was letting him hold her, rub her chin, and pick her up as she ran around a bit. I called him "the grouchy chinchilla whisperer" and Bonnie had found her new home. Her new home has kept in contact and this is what they had to say
"Hi Laurie! Bonnie is doing great! Honestly she is not the same "grouchy" chin that we first met. She welcomes us to pick her up. She hasn't crabbed at us at all since leaving. We even took her to petsmart to pick up some supplies and she even let strangers pet her. She took a dust bath last night. You are so right, it is the cutest thing ever. I felt good because when she got in her cage she started eating immediately so she must be feeling comfortable. She is absolutely wonderful. We love her already and I'm pretty sure Bonnie is happy too! Thanks for everything! J&J (names withheld)"
This just shows that it just takes to right owner for the right the chin!
