Who We Are and What We Do

The Amanda Connection's goal is to find homes for our wonderful animals -- most of whom were rescued from terrible situations or simply abandoned by their owners to fend for themselves. We have a kaliedoscope of kitties ranging from tiny kittens to well mannered and lovingly friendly adults. We try hard to match up all potential adopters with a suitable feline (or canine) companion to match their needs, desires and lifestyle. We cannot take owner surrenders at this time. If you have a pet you need to rehome we might be able to help with the process, but we cannot take your pet. We can offer you advice on ways to keep from haveing to get rid of your pet, depending on your situation.

Originally set up to serve those 'Last Chance Cats', the Amanda Connection also seeks barns, stables and farms to provide a safe home for our less people-friendly cats. These kitties are willing to work for food and merely ask to have their meal supplemented with cat food and have access to a warm dry place to sleep. Our feral cats have been spayed/neutered, have tested negative for FeLV and are vaccinated against rabies. They are wonderful outdoor guardians and are in desperate need of safe places to live. Many have been rescued from abusive situations and cannot be returned to their environment. Sadly, these are the cats that are the least adoptable. They are the nitty, gritty, survivors that have impressed us with their indomitable spirits. We simply cannot give up on these kitties!

Please e-mail us to arrange a visit to meet our wonderful cats and dogs/puppies or find out more info about providing a safe haven for our ferals.

The Amanda Connection also welcomes donations of cat food, litter and any kitty carriers or accessories that will help us care for our foster kitties. All funds are used to cover the costs of medical care for the cats (and our recent rescued dogs). We greatly appreciate your support!

The Amanda Connection also supports Saving Shelter Pets Inc.

Please read about the Puppy Promises program, which is an intervention program created to save puppies before they ever enter the shelter environment (where they will be exposed to disease). The program also stipulates that the mother of these puppies must be spayed at the expense of Saving Shelter Pets. Therefore, Puppy Promises not only saves puppies from the high threat of parvo in shelters; it eliminates future litters from the mother as well.
Puppy Promises focuses on pet over population one litter at a time.

Hours:

Our adoptable pets are kept in foster homes not a shelter facility. Please e-mail to set up an appointment in Newtown: Susan

Adoption Fees:

$125 for kittens and most adult cats. Some of the special needs or older kitties are a donation. . This fee covers vaccinations and felv test. Some cats/kittens are also tested for aids and micro chipped. All cats leave our foster care spayed or neutered. This is not done on all cats and is usually avaliable on cats and some kittens pulled from NYC borough shelters..

$350 for purebred dogs or dogs with high medical expenses dogs and -$325 for puppies under 6 months old. Our lovable mixes $300.This covers neutering, vaccinations and tests. Senior dogs fee is $150 or a donations. If a dog/puppy is adopted prior to spay/neutering, $50.00 will be rebated after proof of spay or neuter has been sent..Unfortunately with high gas prices that continue to rise it maybe necessary to charge a transportation fee in addition to the adoption fees. Most of our dogs come from GA and the cost of transporting them has been included in the adoption fee. If gas prices continue to rise at an alarming rate we will have no other choice but to add this as an additional fee. Dogs for placement locally will not have this added fee.

All adoption fees are non-refundable after 21 days.

Policy

If adopters are renters they need to provide proof that it is alright with their landlord to have a cat or dog.
All kittens and cats must leave the foster home in a cat carrier.
Kittens and cats are indoor cats only, declawing is not permitted. Soft Paws is an acceptable alternative to declawing.
Adoption contract is required (we provide the paperwork).
