Herding Rescue of CT
The Herding Group:
"The vast majority of Herding dogs, as household pets, never cross paths with a farm animal. In general, these intelligent dogs make excellent companions and respond beautifully to training exercises." (from the AKC Webpage)
These are intelligent, active, and athletic dogs. They can make wonderful family members with the proper environment and obedience training. Most of these dogs love to work and are eager to please. Thus a home that is able to give them a "job" is a plus. Such jobs may include agility, flyball, or even bringing the paper.
Who We Are
We are currently applying for our 501-c-3 status. We are a group of volunteers concerned for the homeless herding dogs in our area. We work out of our private homes and also foster in them.
To date we have had Aussies (or Australian Shepherds), Collies, and Shetland Sheepdogs (Shelties). However- if another breed of dog is in need- we definately wouldn't turn it away.
Adopting a friend
All of our dogs are vet checked, UTD on all vaccines, and neutered or spayed. . The adoption fee is to cover the cost of the vet expenses.
If you see a dog in which you are interested- please email us for an application. After receiving your application an appointment will be made for the dog to meet you and the rest of your family. An appointment must be made to visit a posted adoptable pet as they are guests in private homes
