The State of CT has an adoption program which provides a spay/ neuter voucher for unaltered animals adopted from a municipal pound. The adoption fee is $50 for an unaltered animal. A voucher ,worth over $100, is provided towards spay/neuter and two shots for the animal. A known spayed/ neutered pet is only $5. The new owner assumes all future veterinary fees and agrees to utilize the voucher to have their pet spayed or neutered.
