News
Our information center (about any and all animals) is on-going as are our rescue efforts. Various Adopt-a-Thons take place throughout the year.
Who We Are
The Animal Advocacy Volunteer Network ("Animal Hotline") is a non-profit humane animal information and referral service. We have 24-hour a day voice mail. We have been in existence for three + years. Our goals and purposes include:
(1) To promote the health, care, and well-being of animals.
(2) To educate the public concerning animal issues and the human/animal bond.
(3) To encourage the spaying & neutering of pets to help with the pet over-population problem.
(4) To encourage regular use of veterinarian care.
(5) To help owners keep their pets by assisting with animal behavior problems.
(6) To improve the conditions of pets in general and to save the lives of animals.
Our emphasis has been on saving homeless and/or abused animals, hard-to-place animals, cats from feral colonies.
We have a Registry for Senior Citizens so elderly persons need not worry about what will happen to their pets should something happen to them on a permanent or temporary basis.
Topics most often covered: pet relinquishment, pet adoptions, lost or found pets, laws and ordinances, reporting of animal abuse/neglect, behavior problems, spay-neuter information, health issues, pet grief, etc.
Adopting a friend
We have adoption contracts and a simple adoption questionnaire. Adoptor must be willing to keep cats indoors. Adoptor must be willing and to have a representative come to the house to see the conditions in which the new pet would be living, with removal allowed if not satisfactory living arrangements or abiding by contract. Show at PetSmart. Recommended donations: $35 for cats, $100 for dogs. Exceptions for special circumstances.
Come Visit Us!
We have no specific address and volunteers operate from our homes. We do not have a shelter, but house homeless pets in foster homes. But e-mail or call and a volunteer would be happy to meet with you. Pueblo, Colorado.
