What can you do to help the animals of the CCSPCA?
Hello and Welcome to the CCSPCA. We are always looking for volunteers, foster homes and forever families. If you would like to learn more about becoming a member of the CCSPCA, adopting, volunteering or fostering for the CCSPCA please visit our shelter either in person or on the web at http://www.ccspca.com. Our shelter is open every day of the year (yes, even holidays!) from 8am to 4pm. On Wednesdays, we offer extended hours and remain open from 8am to 7pm.

The society was incorporated in Fresno, California in 1946 under the laws of the State of California. The name was changed to The Central California Society For The Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals in 1958 with provisions that no other organization may use the former name, Fresno County Humane Society, Incorporated. Since the incorporation in June of 1946, The CC/SPCA has operated continuously and vigorously for the protection of animals. For 40 years the CC/SPCA has remained faithful to the objective implicit in its name: the prevention of cruelty to animals
The CC/SPCA has kept pace with changing times, revising its programs to serve current animal needs.
The basic state anti-cruelty laws which still protect animals from harm were sought and obtained by the CC/SPCA, as were the specific laws that abolished the great cruelties of the 19th century such as bullfighting, dogfighting and cockfighting.
State Humane Officers appointed by the CC/SPCA, and approved by the Superior Court of California County of Fresno, trained in rescue of animals and investigation of complaints of abuse, have power to arrest in cases of cruelty to animals. Such authority, statewide, is used judiciously after all other corrective measures fail. Free ambulance service and shelter is provided for lost or stray animals, or those owned but temporarily without homes because their owners can no longer keep them.
Painless euthanasia is given to animals when necessary, due to age, injury, or sickness beyond medical aid, or if unable to place in a new home. No charge is made for these services in order to encourage the public to take advantage of humane facilities and to discourage abandonment of animals. However, contributions are appreciated and accepted.
The CC/SPCA owns its own land, buildings and equipment purchased with privately donated funds. The CC/SPCA also assumes responsiblity by contract to perform the Animal Control and Leash Law services for the City and County of Fresno dating back to September 1951. The modern facilities and caring staff offer safe refuge, nourishment, medical care and love to every stray and unwanted animal in our community.

Our shelter is located at 103 South Hughes Avenue in Southwest Fresno right off of 180 West; if you follow 180 West it will end at Hughes, look to your right you will see our beautiful big red barn that announces SPCA.
