Pet of the Month

Our pet of the month is any loving animal that needs a home! It is too hard to pick just one as they are all special.

News

The Stockton Animal Shelter works with many different rescue groups, fosters and a collaboration of Animal Control and the Animal Protection League that operates as Stockton Animal Shelter Friends (SASF). SASF operates the Adopt-A-Pet and Spay/Neuter Education Center at 7475 Murray Drive, Suite #19 in Stockton. SASF's phone numbers are 956-DOGS (3647) or 937-7096..

The Animal Shelter works closely with volunteers to increase adoptions, educate the public, and in turn reduce the euthanasia rates for the community.

Stockton Animal Shelter Friends holds an annual dog walkathon and swimming event, Strut Your Mutt / Dog Day Afternoon, which attracts several hundred people and their dogs and raises thousands of dollars to support our programs. It is held at Victory Park at the end of August each year and is a fun filled and exciting day for all! For more information, call SASF at 209-956-3647 or Parks and Recreation at 209-937-5027.

Who We Are

The Stockton Animal Shelter is the only municipal shelter for the City of Stockton and the majority of San Joaquin County. The shelter serves as a central location for dog licensing and City of Stockton Animal Control Operations. Today, the Shelter is continuing to grow their relationships with many rescue groups both locally and in surrounding areas to better serve the San Joaquin County community.

Stockton Animal Shelter Friends is working hard to assist the shelter with finding new adoptive homes for unclaimed animals, funding and administering a spay and neuter voucher program, conducting humane education and offering a variety of other activities to improve the state of animal welfare in our community.
