Description
WAG is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the lives of lost, unwanted and homeless animals. We are a unique, no-kill animal shelter that emphasizes quality medical care, socialization, behavioral training and exercise for all of the animals in our care. The WAG Way embraces the human-animal relationship in its many forms.

Fees
Every animal available for adoption through WAG has been examined by a veterinarian, is spayed or neutered, has received a first vaccination, is dewormed and treated for external parasites. Each newly adopted animal is also generously provided with a free wellness exam by one of our three local veterinarians. Our adoption fee is $150 Canadian for adult dogs and cats (1-7 years), $180 for puppies and kittens (under 1 year), and $75 for seniors (over 7 years).

Matchmaking: Finding the right fit
WAG matches wonderful homes with animals to create lifelong bonds. We have a 99% success rate for adoptions. We understand that every home and every animal is unique. This is the basis of the matchmaking technique.

Going through the Adoption Process
Wonderful homes come in many forms. The steps below help WAG to learn what is wonderful about you. Going through the process helps you to learn more about which animal would be a perfect fit for you.

Step 1. Make sure you are ready to meet the lifelong needs of animals. This includes insuring you can afford a pet, have the time needed, your children have reached an age where they will be safe around a pet, and being familiar with basic animal needs and behaviours.

Step 2. Think about the characteristics you would like in a pet. Energetic? Mellow? Playful? Goofy? Someone to keep you on your toes?

Step 3. Visit the shelter often and get to know the animals.

Step 4. When you find one you think is right for you, fill out an adoption application for that animal. You will need your landlords phone number (unless you own your home, two nonpersonal references (please no friends or family), and your veterinarian's name and phone number for your current or past pets.

Step 5. Meet with staff to help make sure it is the right match

WAG staff are here to help you through this process.

Please note that all adopters must be 19 years of age or older
