Coppercloud Ranch Pet Rescue
COPPERCLOUD RESCUE would like to THANK from the bottom of my heart each and every adopter over the last 4 years. I am so grateful that there are amazing people like each and every one of you that was willing to open their home to a dog on death row. Thank you for all the photos you send and the updates of your beloved pet! It is one of the few things in rescue that is not discouraging and keeps all of us rescuers going! WITH LOVE & Blessings, Robin J.

This season is going to be a tragic one pet-wise. The shelters are already filling up with hundreds of dogs, puppies, cats and kittens.(I know this because I volunteer there.) There is not room for all of them and adoptions drop way down in the summertime. Anywhere from 60 to 100 animals a day are killed here in PHX because of reasons like lack of spay and neutering, backyard breeders who are only in it for the money (don't care what happens to the pet after it's sold), people who don't care enough to come looking for their pets, no ID on animals and just plain ignorance about pet overpopulation.
Dogs don't come in just because they are lost. Owner reliquishes are a huge part of the problem. "We are going on vacation and can no longer care for this cat." "We are moving and can't take our dog." (What state doesn't allow cats and dogs?) One we heard just this week was " We are moving and there just isn't room in the car for her." We basically hear similar versions of these and others at least 50 times a week.
We really want to try and save as many of these friendly, loving animals as possible before they are killed.
There was a study done that proved the less people paid for pets, the more likely they were to not take care of them. So to protect the animals in our care, we are going to be diligent about finding great forever homes. Homechecks are required. We want to make sure that our rescued dogs get a home where they are loved, taken to the vet if they are sick or injured, aren't fed garbage like Kibbles and Bits, and are an indoor member of the family.
If you already know this is you, this won't even make you flinch. But if these requirements are more than you are willing to abide by, please reconsider why you even want a pet. They don't deserve to be left in the backyard, bored, and as a result, becoming destructive.....
If you have any questions, you can email or call us. Email is best if you would like us to keep an eye out for you. (Please keep in mind that there are some breeds that just do not need rescuing; in other words, are returned to owner or adopted immediately the day they go up for adoption at the shelter. Some of these would be English Bulldog, Yorkie and Maltese.) But there are other breeds that you would be surprised that do come through the shelter.
I know this is long-winded, but I want you to be aware of the serious dilemma of these abandoned pets. Please do not buy from pet stores(they all come from puppy mills, directly or indirectly, no matter what the employees tell you, and the rescue and animal groups are working so hard at getting these deplorable conditions shut down). Also if you can avoid backyard breeders (the classifieds), then they are stuck with all their puppies (they will have to give them away) and will think twice before breeding again.
Thanks for listening and let us know if there's anything we can do to help.

Who We Are
Coppercloud Pet Rescue is a outgoing-based rescue (in other words, we do not take found animals or owner turn-ins....you must contact Maricopa County Animal Care and Control for this) that removes animals from the county shelters that are scheduled to be put to death and finds compatible, loving homes.
Our secondary mission is to make pet owners truly aware of what the statistics are when they dump their pets on the county. The 2 county shelters alone are euthanizing HUNDREDS of cats and dogs EVERY week! Every single one of these animals once belonged to a human who no longer cared about their well-being. It is not the county's problem. It is a community problem. Please spay and neuter your pets. PLEASE.
Email us if you need a low cost clinic. We are thrilled to offer this information.
We can always use your help! You'd be amazed at the many ways there are to contribute! : )
1. Collect towels and old clean blankets for the shelter animals.
2. Pass flyers around to all your neighbors and have them save their "no longer used" items for our twice yearly garage sale to raise money for vet bills.
3. Be a foster for a cat. We can't take cats into rescue right now because we don't have seperate facilities. With cat "moms and dads", we could save one more off the euthanasia list.
4. Be a sponsor for 10.00/mo. That would be so cool if we could list you as a sponsor on the dog of your choice.
5. Be creative and come up with your own way to help us raise money. Our goal this year to help out the homeless dogs and cats (and even the lucky ones with a warm bed at night) is to purchase a new , portable, ID tag machine from a company in TX. ($3000.00, not including metal tags, which will cost 1.00 each.) We would like to be able to sell tags for 2.00 each (it engraves front and back of tag!), and give tags away to people in the needier parts of town that would have no idea where to look for their pet if it became lost. There are over 400 lost animals in PHX EVERY WEEK!!! Sadly, most never get back home : (
6. Find something cheap and really cool at a garage sale and sell it on ebay for us as a donation!
7. Can you sew? Make fleece dog sweaters for us in all sizes. We can sell them at the adoption fairs we go to, and also use them in the winter for our short-haired guys, like the chihuahuas.
8. Have an old kennel or bed that your dog turns his nose up at? Donate it the homeless dogs we take in!
9. HEY! if you can come up with a great idea for us, we will list it here!!!!
