~ DDR NEWS ~

We are SO busy with our human babies (just 3 and 2 years old and are we are so excited to welcome a third baby into our family in May!) and have sadly had to slow down in our rescue efforts.... but we will gladly help you place your Dane, get your Dane into a reputable rescue, or into a foster home so please DO NOT hesitate to email us, I will get back to you promptly! We will also help you locate other reputable rescues to adopt a Dane from if we do not have a match for you...or reputable breeders to buy from if you can not find a rescue dane(PLEASE do not support Back Yard Breeders!). Also, as always, please feel free to email us for any Dane information! THANKS!

IN LOVING MEMORY ~ EMERY ~ 10/10/01 - 12/2/05 I am heartbroken to say we lost our precious Emery (our Harl male) in December, he finally lost his battle with epilepsy and joined some of his dane friends at the Rainbow Bridge. Although I miss him dearly, not a day goes by that I do not think of him, but I know he is in a better place. We loved him so much and will always miss our big special boy. Emery loved everybody and was one of those special dogs- anyone that was lucky enough to have known him would tell you that- there will never be another Emery. WE LOVE YOU EM and will see you again one day! You will be forever in our hearts!

Who we are:

My name is Amy and I run a small, independent and home-based non-profit Dane rescue called Destiny Dane Rescue here North west Alabama. All of my Dane rescues stay inside my home (or an approved foster home) and are trained and loved as one of our own until we find them perfect forever homes. All Danes are fully vetted prior to adoption. While adoption fees help to defray all our costs associated with rescue, much money comes out of our own pocket to care for our babies. To understand why adoption fees are necessary, please read this: http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/12811/90324

ADOPTING A DANE- PLEASE READ ABOUT OUR ADOPTION PROCESS before emailing us!

The adoption process is very strict only because we think our rescue babies deserve the very best.

1. The very first step is for you to email me and request an adoption application (also feel free to email me with any Dane questions or to request more pictures, I am always happy to help educate anyone on the breed!). I will email the adoption application to you promptly, you can fill it out to the best of your ability and email it back to me...so you know in advance, the application is quite lengthy and detailed (SERIOUS inquires ONLY PLEASE), but please understand it is the only way for us to 1. weed out bad applicants and 2. match up potential adopters with Danes that will best fit into their families and lifestyles.

2. Once your application is reviewed, if it is approved, your 5 references (2 related, 3 not related) and your vet are called...they must be solid, stellar references.

3. Last but not least, if your references are approved, I or a representative of D.D.R. will go to your home to conduct a home inspection.

4. If you are approved at all stages of the adoption process, you will be considered to adopt the Dane you are interested in. If you are chosen, your family and other pets can come meet the Dane you are interested in. We WILL NEVER fly our rescues (flying dogs can be dangerous and is very stressful on the animal), you must come pick them up or in special cases transport can be arranged via "rescue railroad".

5. All Danes are placed on strict adoption contracts which must be signed prior to adoption. Each rescue is kept up with for life and we constantly check to be sure the adoption contract is always followed.

6. Adoption fee must be paid in full prior to adoption.

7. I am here for all my adopters for the life of each dog and can be reached 24/7 with any questions/concerns.

Lastly I would like to add.... Adopting a Dane and adding him/her to your family is an enormous decision that takes heavy consideration and must be a well thought out choice...adopting a Dane means making a LIFETIME commitment to that animal no matter what life brings you...are you ready for that responsiblity? PLEASE think about that, and take into consideration anything your future may bring you because pets are NOT disposable.
