BIG NEWS!!! For anyone who adopts a pet from one of petfinder.com's rescue organizations, Petfinder.com is going to pre-pay the first 2 months of ShelterCare pet health insurance for each adopted cat and dog. ShelterCare is a PetCare Pet Insurance Program that is specifically designed to cover these illnesses and accidents which may be common to homeless pets: Kennel cough, intestinal parasites, urinary tract infections, upper respiratory tract infections, ear infections, sarcoptic and demodectic mange & parvovirus; as well as foreign body ingestion removal, motor vehicle accidents, fractures & poison ingestion. Petfinder.com has pre-paid for the policy, so you are not obligated to pay anything. You simply call to activate the coverage which will continue for 60 days and then automatically stop unless you choose to either extend it or upgrade. Petfinder.com will be invoiced for the gift and will receive no commissions on the sale of any pet insurance plan. This is WONDERFUL for someone who adopts one of our pets as it will help you ensure anything initially wrong with your new "baby" will be initially covered by insurance.

Who We Are

Founded in 1997 by Silvia and David Harvey, Happy PAWS Haven (Progressive Animal Welfare System) is located in Arab, Marshall County, Alabama. Happy PAWS Haven, a no-kill, no-kennel, spay and neuter Domestic Animal Shelter received the 501(c)3 Federal Non-profit Agency status in January 2002. History of the Happy PAWS Haven We typically handle about 150 animals each year, educate about spay and neuter programs, education for responsible pet care, obedience training, and have a lost and found service for missing pets. A volunteer Board of Directors oversees the operations of the Animal Shelter and assists in the fundraising efforts for the organization. A small, caring and well-trained staff supplemented by our dedicated volunteers carry out the daily care of the animals and keep the facility clean and disease-free.

Adopting a friend

All applicants must fill out an adoption application. Applicants are screened in order to ensure the best possible home for our animals. Cats are adopted to "indoor" only homes, unless after a site visit it is found that an indoor/outdoor lifestyle is amenable.. The application can be downloaded from our web site at http://www.happypawshaven.org or filled out when you come by.
